I’ve been dying to shoot a wedding in Kansas City…. so when Kristin and Ford called and said “Heather Cole referred you, we’re getting married in Kansas City and we’d love to have you,” I couldn’t have been more excited to head to my hometown for a wedding. 😀 Oh, and let me tell you…. they didn’t disappoint!Kristin and Ford got married in her parents’ back yard. Here, she’s watching those two little boys (shown above) make it down the aisle. 😀I’m not going to lie…. this was probably the hottest outdoor ceremony we’ve ever photographed (100° heat index!!! Welcome to KC!)… but that didn’t stop it from being awesome. Kristin, Ford, their wedding party and their families handled the heat like champions! Though, the bridesmaids all being badass soccer players who play in the heat didn’t hurt either…. 😉Oh hello there hot tamale… 🙂Kristin’s parents had a surprise around every corner. The first one… when everyone exited the ceremony there were three ice cream trucks waiting in front of the house. This my friends is a GENIUS idea!LOVED these bridesmaids! I’d like to make this my formal application to photograph all of your future weddings… k? k.  My view.…and Mike’s!Loved the tan suits. Good work Ford. 😀BOOM! Favorite!!!! ❗ My view……and Mike’s. 😀These two are so cute together…Kristin’s parents’ surprise #2… right as her dad started his speech… “GONNNNNG!!!!” Then from behind entered about 40 band members from The University of Kansas marching band playing KU’s fight song. Here was Kristin’s reaction to the chime of the gong. 🙂 NO ONE in the room knew (except for the vendors).Kristin and Ford met at KU and are hard core fans. Many of those in the room were also alumni so the whole room went NUTS!It was absolutely one of the highlights of the day!
Nothing like a bride and groom who chest bump in the midst of their first dance! (at least that’s what it looks like here… not sure if that’s what really happened…)Love this! Another favorite. ❗ PS. Where’s Waldo?! 😉The best band we’ve ever seen at a reception, hands down! They’re the Emerald City Band based in Dallas, Tx. 😀FYI, there were crazy colored lights flashing throughout the night… hence the yellow cast. 😉
Guess what song they were singing to…. 🙂

What was the most memorable moment of your day?

kristin:  There were a million. The one that sticks out most in my mind would be when I realized that Ford was shaking during the ceremony from nerves, and I’m sure the heat didn’t help. When I grabbed his hand to place his wedding ring on his finger, I squeezed his hand with love and he stopped shaking. After placing the ring on his finger, it was like his nerves left his body and it was just him and I standing there.

Any advice for future bride/grooms?

kristin+ford: The best advice we got from others I would most definitely pass on to future bride/grooms! The day and evening festivities go by LITERALLY in the blink of an eye, so spend it together. Laugh, play and enjoy the evening TOGETHER! Try not to worry about making rounds and enjoy your first moments as husband and wife dancing, eating the wonderful food you chose for your big day, and enjoying the loved ones who’ve joined you on the most glorious day of your lives.

Funniest memory from your wedding day?

kristin: The funniest memory from our wedding day would be when three ice cream trucks pulled up in front of my parents home following our ceremony. We have an inside family joke regarding ice cream trucks and weddings, and it was the greatest touch to add to the day. I also have wonderful memories of my grandfather (whom I dearly loved) and ice cream, and my family said that was his way of being there on our wedding day.

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

kristin+ford: Not a damn thing.

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

St. Lucia Sandals La Toc Resort, most amazing trip of our lives. Already planning on returning ASAP. [br] [br] [br]

Don’t mind that thing on my chin…. 😉I think it’s a Kansas City thing to have tall cakes… I feel like all of the cakes that Heather photographs are tall like this too. It was quite a sight to be seen!

Kristin and Ford, thank you thank you thank you for bringing us out to Kansas City photograph your wedding! 😀 It was a blast!

Much love friends.
